Huawei Unveils Smart Home Devices and Upgrades
On Wednesday, Huawei held a spring conference to launch a series of new products. Among the releases were a new generation of whole house smart solutions; WiFi devices; smart door locks; a new version of the smart portable speaker Sound Joy; new color swatches for the P50, nova9 SE, MatePad Paper, and WATCH 3; and the new FreeBuds 4E.
Huawei nova 9 SE
The Huawei nova 9 SE adopts a large 6.78-inch FHD+ TFT LCD display, achieving 94.85% ultra-high screen ratio, with the highest resolution topping out at 2388 x 1080, a refresh rate of 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 270Hz.
The nova 9 SE introduced three simple colors for its lineup: blue, white and black. As for the main camera, the device has a 108-megapixel camera with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, in addition to two other 2-megapixel sensors each. The front camera is shoots at 16MP and is visible through a round hole on the screen.
Huawei nova 9 SE’s 4000mAh battery supports 66W super fast charging and is able to be charged to 60% in only 15 minutes and fully charged in 35 minutes.
New Color for Huawei P50 Pro & Huawei P50E
Huawei added three brand-new colors – white, orange, and blue – for the P50 Pro it released last year. The white and orange version’s display is stronger 5 times than previous model, while the blue model’s back is fingerprint-proof. The Huawei P50E is equipped with a flat screen and has three color options: white, gold and black.
AITO M5 Four-wheel Drive Flagship Edition
At the press conference, the four-wheel-drive flagship version of the AITO M5 was officially made available for pre-order on Wednesday, with a price tag of 319,800 yuan ($50,370). The most expensive model in the series added a new paint color – azure blue. The model is also equipped with an advanced 360-degree intelligent panoramic parking system, which mainly consists of 12 long-distance ultrasonic radars, 4 APA HD cameras and APA controllers.
The four-wheel-drive flagship version of the AITO M5 is equipped with Huawei’s DriveOne pure electric drive extended range platform. The vehicle’s cruising range can take it over 1000 km under WLTC, and even 150 km in the pure electric drive model. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h can be done in only 4.4 seconds.
Huawei WATCH 3
Huawei added a new blue strap and dial to its WATCH 3, as well as a 3D dynamic cute pet dial. In addition, users can join a respiratory health research program jointly sponsored by Tongji Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and 301 Hospital to screen for lung infection risks. In addition, functions for automobile control and WeChat will make a few more things easier for end users. The new Huawei WATCH 3 is priced at 2199 yuan.
Huawei MatePad Paper
Huawei MatePad Paper is the world’s first tablet equipped with the HarmonyOS 2 system and E Ink display. Owing to its 10.3-inch E Ink display, the tablet is made optimal for reading and taking notes. The tablet supports Huawei’s second-generation M-Pencil stylus, while its own reading application offers tens of thousands of books.
According to Huawei Lab’s data, the MatePad Paper, which supports 22.5W fast charging, can last up to 6 days and recover 100% power in 1.5 hours after reading for 2 hours and handwriting for 0.5 hours every day. The pad has three colors: black, white and blue, among which the black version has been pre-sold, and the others will be put on sale later in April. The 4GB + 64GB version starts from 2999 yuan, and the 6GB + 128GB version starts at 3699 yuan.
Huawei MatePad
The company’s MatePad is gathering educational partners through their Education Center and introduces high-quality educational resources to meet the learning needs of users of all ages. The MatePad has a 10.4-inch 2K full-view screen with screen ratio of 84%. Multiple eye protection modes create a comfortable product experience for children.
Huawei MatePad is equipped with a 7250mAh battery supporting 22.5W fast charging and can play videos downloaded for over 12 hours. According to Huawei Lab’s data, the standby time is about 28 days. The device is available in three colors: silver, blue and grey, with prices ranging between 1699 yuan and 2699 yuan.

Huawei FreeBuds 4E
Huawei’s FreeBuds 4E are bringing some variety to personalized headset connection interfaces. These earbuds can be freely set according to different factors, including user preferences, traditional festivals and trending hotspots. The user can visually see the recently connected devices of the earbud to shorten the connection process.
Huawei FreeBuds 4E can broadcast flights, schedules, weather, health and other news on the smartphone after connecting to Huawei devices equipped with the HarmonyOS system. The earbud weighs only 8.2 g and is priced at 699 yuan. Those who pre-order are entitled to a 50 yuan discount when the order is placed.
Huawei Sound Joy
This is the first portable smart speaker equipped with Huawei’s HarmonyOS released by the company in China. It is equipped with a 8800mAh battery and supports 40W fast charging, which allows it to last for more than 26 hours. According to Huawei’s own tests, the speaker can play for 1 hour after charging for 10 minutes. Devialet’s four-unit acoustic system is also adopted on speaker. When other Huawei devices are nearby, they can automatically connect in one stop.
Weighing around 680g, Huawei Sound Joy is dust-proof and water-resistant, and has three colors to choose from: red, green and black with a price tag of 999 yuan.
New Generation Huawei Whole House Smart Solution
The “1 + 2 + N” strategy of Huawei’s whole house smart solution was upgraded again in 2022. This “1” brought Huawei’s whole house intelligent host SE while “2” refers to the connection between the host and the system. The brand-new central control family, together with the interactive software – Smart Life APP – constitutes two interactive cores. Finally, “N” refers to ten intelligent subsystems.
Huawei has applied the same core sensing technology of its intelligent driving division to the devices found in the whole house intelligence solution, giving the devices a much more accurate ability for perception. Huawei’s whole house intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in the smart home, medical care, education, office and hotel industries. The system for a house covering 80 m2 (2 rooms and 1 dinning hall) is set to be priced at 39,999 yuan.
Huawei Router Q6 and AX6
As the first device to realize the intelligence of the whole house, the Huawei Router Q6 has the characteristics of wider coverage, greater speed and better stability. It is also easy to use as it features plug-and-play installation. Under the support of HarmonyOS, the router can implement better monitoring and security, and can meet a variety of network needs, from small homes to small offices. One parent router can support up to 15 child routers. Through flexible power line arrangement, the whole house can be covered with a high-speed network.
Actual bandwidth tops out at 650Mbps, meaning that a 10GB HD movie will take only 15 seconds to download, while a 15GB mobile game can be downloaded in 20 seconds. Overall, the Huawei Router AX6 peaks out at’s rate can reach 7200Mbps.
The AX6 is equipped with 8 high-performance signal amplifiers on 2.4 GHz and 5GHz channels. According to Huawei, compared with 4 amplifiers, the coverage distance of 8 amplifiers is effectively increased by 60%, and the long-distance download rate is increased by 50%.
First Smart Door Lock Equipped with HarmonyOS
Finally, Huawei’s first smart door lock is now equipped with the company’s HarmonyOS and supports AI 3D face recognition. The device is certified under the HarmonyOS’s TEE CC EAL5+ security certification and also features the EAL5 + certification for its security chip. It has nine unlocking methods, including face, fingerprint, password, smartphone, watch, NFC card and more.
