iMotion and Horizon Robotics to Develop Comprehensive Intelligent Driving Solution Using J6E

Chinese autonomous driving solution provider iMotion will strategically collaborate with Horizon Robotics to develop an intelligent driving solution based on the Horizon Journey Series 6E chip (referred to as J6E), targeting the mid-range intelligent driving market priced between 100,000 to 150,000 yuan.

The Horizon J6E chip boasts a single-chip computing power of 80 TOPS, supporting functions such as high-speed navigation, automatic parking, and city memory navigation. The complete solution built on the J6E is priced below 5,000 yuan, supports passive cooling, and can be used in fuel vehicles, making it a highly cost-effective solution.

Earlier reports indicated that BYD will also adopt the Orin N and Horizon J6E solution next year to mass-produce intelligent driving features in its Ocean Network models.

As basic BYD models begin to come equipped with intelligent driving features, competition in the smart electric vehicle industry will escalate, with intelligent driving becoming a key factor driving sales in vehicles priced between 100,000 to 150,000 yuan.

Automakers are accelerating the integration of intelligent driving features, presenting new opportunities for intelligent driving solution providers.

Song Yang, founder and CEO of iMotion, has over 10 years of experience at Bosch, while President Jiang Jingfang previously served as Senior Vice President at Bosch and Senior Vice President and Partner at He Duo Technology, where he established He Duo’s mass production delivery center and secured intelligent driving mass production projects with GAC and Chery. In April this year, Jiang Jingfang led several employees to join iMotion, marking a re-collaboration of the two former Bosch executives.

Mao Tao, Senior Product Director at iMotion, stated that the team is working tirelessly to ensure the project reaches mass production next year. “Our collaboration with Horizon, the iDC510, supports high-speed navigation and automatic parking. It also supports pure visual city navigation solutions, with all essential functions well-integrated.”

Public information reveals that iMotion has already secured partnerships with several automakers including Geely, Great Wall Motors, Chery Automobile, and Dongfeng Motor Corporation. In the first half of 2024, the company received 18 appointment letters from car manufacturers.

In addition to its domestic presence, iMotion is expanding further overseas. In October last year, iMotion successfully established a subsidiary in Germany to provide research and development support for Chinese car exports in terms of data compliance, quality assurance, and to explore collaboration opportunities with overseas car manufacturers.
