Inceptio Technology to Begin Driverless L4 Automated Heavy Truck Open Road Tests

Inceptio Technology, an automated driving start-up, announced that it was recently granted a license to conduct open road testing with L4 driver-less self-driving heavy trucks in Deqing, Zhejiang Province.

The license for the open road testing of L4 driverless heavy trucks granted allows the company to conduct automated driving tests with no driver at the helm. In this way, the company can move into the completely “driverless” testing phase, which is more open, more advanced and closer to an actual operation scenario.

Previously, Inceptio Technology completed the first L4 unmanned heavy truck test with mass production potentials on a closed highway in Laiwu, Shandong Province on December 23, 2021. The test simulated a realistic scenario with real time-like traffic flows in China and provided a comprehensive demonstration of the L4’s capability.

Inceptio Technology was established in September 2018 and was jointly funded by G7, a leading Internet of Things tech firm China. The company is also funded by GLP and NIO Capital. It has cooperated with leading OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and logistics fleets on vehicle development and customization as well as automated fleet operations.

At the end of February this year, Inceptio Technology announced the completion of a B+ round of equity financing worth $188 million. Through the round B+ financing, Inceptio Technology will further increase its investment in its full-stack self-developed automated truck driving system “Xuanyuan”, and jointly launch more mass-produced models with industrial partners to accelerate its layout in the field of electrification.
