It’s Official. Xiaomi Will Launch Mi 9 Next Week
Xiaomi has officially confirmed to launch its latest flagship model Mi 9 on Feb. 20. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer claims that Mi 9, with an internal code name of “fighting angel”, is by far the best looking smartphone produced by the company.
Xiaomi also announces that Chinese pop star Roy Wang has officially become a Mi brand ambassador. Wang Yuan is known as a member from China’s popular boy band TFBoys or The Fighting Boys. The other two members, Karry Wang and Jackson Yee, are brand ambassadors for OPPO and Huawei’s Nova series, respectively.
The soon-to-be revealed Mi 9 is rumored to be Xiaomi‘s first smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor – Snapdragon 855, an upgrade from Mi 8’s Snapdragon 845. Mi 9 is also expected to come with 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with screen resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and aspect ratio of 19:9.

Mi 9’s camera setup has drawn much attention and speculation. It’s likely to come with triple-camera setup on the back panel including a 48MP lens, a 12MP lens with PDAF support, and a TOF camera, and a 25MP selfie shooter on the front.
Mi 9 is said to come in several color versions such as Black, Blue, White, and Gold. Pan Jiutang, partner of Xiaomi‘s industry investment group, suggests on Weibo that unlike the company’s other products that target at lower price buckets, Mi 9 will land in the 4000 yuan (~$600) price range.
Interestingly, South Korea’s smartphone giant Samsung will launch its flagship Galaxy S10 and S10+ on the same day. Thus, it seems comparisons between the two brands will be inevitable.
