Logistics firm J&T Express announced on Tuesday at the LEAP Summit, a science and technology event held in Saudi Arabia, that it will set its Northeast African headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will jointly build the largest smart logistics industrial park in the Middle East and North Africa together with venture capital firm eWTP Arabia Capital and other partners in Saudi Arabia.
The LEAP Summit was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from February 1 to 3, with the participation of more than 700 emerging technology startups. On behalf of the Saudi government, the country’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) signed a memorandum of understanding with J&T Express and eWTP Arabia Capital regarding the smart logistics industrial park plan.
Throughout the next 10 years, J&T Express will train professional express logistics talent in Saudi Arabia, invest in advanced software and hardware equipment and build the largest smart logistics industrial park in the Middle East and North Africa region. In Saudi Arabia, the company will build another global logistics hub and strategic operation center to serve the entire Middle East and North Africa regional market.
The logistics park will include a world-class express sorting center, a cargo sorting center, an automatic storage system, an air cargo terminal, an e-commerce industrial park and a modern industrial park. This will help to promote the all-round development of the local technology-driven industrial economy. The plan is also supported by domestic partners such as eWTP Arabia Capital.
J&T Express launched its express service network in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in January this year, and has established its own national distribution network and localized warehousing system, now covering all local provinces and regions.
Since its establishment in 2015, J&T Express has rapidly set up its own express delivery network in 10 countries to meet the growing local and cross-border service needs.
