Latest iQOO Neo Series Smartphone to Be Launched on December 20, Equipped with OriginOS Ocean

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo officially released a newly upgraded operating system OriginOS Ocean on Thursday. Subsequently, iQOO, one of its subsidiary brands, announced that it would launch an iQOO Neo series on December 20, which would be equipped with the new operating system.

Information regarding the iQOO Neo series has been exposed before, including that the model will be equipped with Snapdragon 888 processor, a curved screen with a hole in the center and will support 66W fast charging.

OriginOS Ocean brought in new and customizable card-style elements on the homescreen, an optimized camera UI and a smart nano music player. Through optimization, the balance between fluency and power consumption was realized at the same time.

Vivo’s Nano Music player is still available on the OriginOS Ocean iteration. Users can control the music player with just an icon on the lock screen, allowing for a simple and non-intrusive listening experience. Users can also customize the buttons and background colors of the interface, and the colors and shapes on the interface will change with different music types.

Through Vivo’s Nano Reading, users can experience a real page-turning effect. Vivo also cooperated with Zhu Zhiwei, artistic director of Hanyi Fonts to optimize the typesetting, spacing, color and background of the reading app.

The Origin OS Ocean also comes with a privacy system enabling users to swipe left from the bottom dock to enter their dedicated private space, after verifying through a fingerprint recognition function. Vivo adds that this private space features multiple layers of security by way of biometric verification as well as hardware-level encryption. OriginOS Ocean divides the main user data set into five levels, thus minimizing the collection of user information by applications.

Many new machines of Vivo and iQOO will be updated to the new system on December 30, and other models will be updated one after another before April 2022.
