LeEco Resets Smartphone Business, Unveils New Product: S1

LeEco held a meeting in Beijing on Monday to announce the official return of its mobile phone business. The target users of its new product S1 include taxi drivers, food deliverymen, and older users.

Li Xiaowei, Executive Vice President of LeEco Intelligent Ecology, said that one of the reasons LeEco has reset its mobile phone businessis because of the development needs of the new smart technology business system, especially the potential in the domestic market. Another reason is that LeTV has a good user base and the company can build on that success. Finally, the company will partition itself in an effort to explore its own abilities within the new business model.

The company’s new S1 mobile phone will be launched in LeEco Mall prior to the National Day, while its flagship products will be unveiled later next year. The LeEco S1 is equipped with a Tiger Ben T5710 chip, with a screen resolution of 1600×720 and battery capacity of 4900mAh. The device ships with Huawei’s account system pre-installed, in addition to Huawei’s HMS Core and other applications for music and reading.

The highlight of S1 device is that its chip, memory, screen and manufacturing are all provided by domestic manufacturers. “The shortage of mobile phone raw materials affected by the epidemic at home and abroad has caused many difficulties for the reset of LeEco’s smartphone business. We are working hard to overcome them.” Li added.
