Li Auto L9 Debuts, Pricing at $68,657

At a product launch conference on Tuesday night, Li Xiang, Founder, Chairman and CEO at new energy vehicle firm Li Auto unveiled the Li L9, a smart flagship SUV built for family use that will retail for 459,800 yuan ($68,657).

As the second product of the Li Auto, the Li L9 provides a six-seat layout and is equipped with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, turbo-charged engine with a 44.5kWh NCM lithium battery. It supports a longer driving range under EV mode of a CLTC range of 215 kilometers and a WLTC range of 180 kilometers. Coupled with a low drag coefficient and high motor efficiency, Li L9’s CLTC range can reach as far as 1,315 kilometers and its WLTC range can go as far as 1,100 kilometers.

The Li L9 comes standard with a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear suspension, and the height adjustment range reaches 80mm. The car is equipped with a dual-motor, intelligent, all-wheel drive system, with an acceleration time from zero to 100km/h of only 5.3 seconds.

The Li Auto AD Max intelligent driving system includes a forward 128-line lidar, a forward millimeter wave radar, six 8MP cameras, five 2MP cameras and 12 ultrasonic radars, in order to create 360-degree detection abilities.

The driving system also adopts two NVIDIA Orin-X processors to make a combined computing power of 508 TOPS. The two processors are redundant in computing power and support higher-level intelligent driving ability.

In terms of safety, the Li L9 is also equipped with five blue intelligent driving assist lights, which are used to display the status of intelligent driving to nearby pedestrians and vehicles. For example, in the state of Automated Valet Parking, pedestrians and vehicles around the vehicle can be notified to pay attention to keep a safe distance.

The battery of this car adopts the latest flame retardant technology and thermal runaway protection. The double protection design is composed of side a protection beam and aluminum alloy shell to ensure the safety of the battery even in the most severe side impact.

At the press conference, Li Xiang also said that Li Auto will open source all of the codes of its independently developed AEB system, and every automaker, supplier, scientific research institution and university can use the updated AEB source code free of charge.
