Li Auto Launches L8 Pro/Max SUVs, Starting From $50.7K
On the afternoon of September 30, Chinese new energy vehicle firm Li Auto held a product launch event for the highly-anticipated Li L8 SUV. With two new versions, namely the L8 Pro and L8 Max, Li Auto announced that their price range falls between 359,800 yuan and 399,800 yuan ($50,658 and $56,290). The L8 Max will start deliveries in early November, while the L8 Pro will start in late November. In addition, the firm revealed the Li L7, a five-seater family SUV, as well as its supply chain investment.
Li L8
Li Xiang, the CEO of Li Auto, said at the event that the Li L8, as an upgraded Li ONE, is still positioned as a medium to large-sized SUV with a six-seat layout. At the same time, the body size has been upgraded comprehensively, reaching 5,080/1,995/1,800 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,005 mm.
In terms of configuration, the Li L8 also shows strong competitiveness, including all-wheel drive system and air suspension. As for the interior, the multi-function steering wheel of the Li L8 is equipped with a safe driving interactive screen, while the center control screen area is composed of a large central control screen and a large co-pilot entertainment screen, achieving a hi-tech feeling.
The Li L8 will offer two “smart space” (SS) options to consumers. The SS Max integrates two Qualcomm 8155 chips with 24GB memory and 256GB high-speed storage while the SS Pro is equipped with an 8155 chip. The difference between the two versions is that the second row of the Li L8 equipped with SS Max has a foldable LCD entertainment screen, which adopts a 3D ToF sensor to support gesture control.
The Intelligent Advanced Driving Assistance System (AD) of the Li L8 will also be available in Pro and Max options. The AD MAX system has two NVIDIA Orxin-X chips, with computing power reaching 508TOPS. The AD Pro system adopts a Journey 5 auxiliary driving chip by Horizon Robotics but doesn’t have any lidar. Its computing power is 128TOPS. Li Xiang also mentioned that by 2025, Li Auto will realize L4 automated driving on expressways and closed roads.
In terms of power, the new model is equipped with the same configuration as the L9, using a 1.5T four-cylinder range extender. The maximum power of the system is 330kW, peak torque is 620 Nm, and the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 5.5 seconds.
In terms of batteries, the Li L8 is equipped with a 42.8 kWh battery pack. Under the EV mode, the Li L8 has a CLTC range of 210 kilometers and a WLTC range of 175 kilometers. It is worth mentioning that it boasts a CLTC range of 1,315 kilometers and a WLTC range of 1,100 kilometers. In addition, the all-wheel drive range extension system and the Li Magic Carpet air suspension are its standard configurations.
In terms of appearance, the Li L8 has four standard colors, including gold, silver, gray and black, with three special edition options of green, blue and purple. The optional price of the special edition is 10,000 yuan.
For Li ONE users, Li Auto said, the company will adhere to higher standards than the industry average to continuously guarantee the Li ONE car service, which includes parts that will be continuously supplied for more than 12 years, while the industry standard is 10 years. The company will also continue to maintain Li ONE software and OTA services, providing free traffic of 20G per month.

Li L7
At the end of the event, Li Xiang announced that the Li L7 has also been officially released. This new car is a five-seat SUV positioned for family use. The body size is 5,050/1,995/1,750 mm with a wheelbase of 3,005 mm. It adopts a brand-new all-wheel drive extended range electric system and is also equipped with Li Magic Carpet air suspension. The model has a CLTC range of 1,315 kilometers.
In terms of configuration, the Li L7 will continue the latest family design style of the Li L9, and will be equipped with over 100 flagship configurations, including HUD (heads-up display), a safe driving interactive screen above the steering wheel, a 15.7-inch central control screen and a 15.7-inch co-pilot entertainment screen, among other things. The Li Auto L7 will also be equipped with a Qualcomm 8155 chip and a Journey 5 chip by Horizon Robotics.
The car is available in Pro and Max versions, priced at 339,800 yuan and 379,800 yuan respectively. Pre-orders were opened after the event. The model will debut at Auto Guangzhou in November this year, start a national tour exhibition in December, and commence delivery at the end of February.
In terms of appearance, there are four standard colors, including white, silver, gray and black, and two special editions in green and blue. The optional price for the special edition is 10,000 yuan. There is also one more mysterious color to be released this year.

In addition to these two new SUV models, Li Xiang also mentioned the company’s investment progress in the supply chain. The Li Auto Beijing Intelligent Manufacturing Base is expected to be put into use next year, at which two flagship extended range and pure electric models will be produced.
