Li Auto Postpones L9 Deliveries Amid Sichuan Power Shortage

Due to recent power issues in central China’s Sichuan, the supply of Li Auto‘s range extender factory in the province has been affected, leading to delays in the delivery of its smart flagship SUV, the L9.

According to an announcement by the company, for customers who are expecting delivery in August as per notices received in the Li Auto app, the EV maker is now expecting to deliver them from August 30 to September 4, with extra gas cards worth 1,000 yuan ($144.6) as compensation. Customers who are expecting delivery in September reportedly will not be affected.

Li Auto announced on August 18 that its L9 model had officially rolled off the production line at its Changzhou Base, and will be delivered nationwide soon. According to an official, Li Auto works closely with parts suppliers to ensure the smooth mass production of L9, and expects to realize the delivery of more than 10,000 units in September.

According to Li Auto‘s data, since its release on June 21, the cumulative booking volume of the L9 model has exceeded 50,000, among which the number of confirmed orders has exceeded 30,000. The L9 costs 459,800 yuan, and is equipped with a 1.5 T four-cylinder range extender and a 44.5 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, which can achieve 215 km in pure-electric battery life and 1,315 km in comprehensive battery life.

It is worth noting that in the firm’s second quarter financial report, Li Auto gave pessimistic expectations of 27,000 to 29,000 vehicles to be delivered in the third quarter.
