LingUniverse, a human–AI interaction technology company, has raised USD 27.5 million in its Pre-A round from investors including Guofang Innovation, Guotai Haitong, GF Xinde, Didi, Koala Fund, and Runjian, with strong follow-on support from existing shareholders.
The company was founded by Gu Jiawei, a well-known AI expert who previously worked at Microsoft Research Asia and led human–AI interaction at Baidu’s Deep Learning Lab. He also founded Ling Technology, creator of the AI reading companion Luka, which has sold nearly ten million units across 18 countries.
Gu believes AI’s real entry into everyday life must start with household and personal scenarios, and today’s mature models and lower hardware costs finally make this possible. LingUniverse is his new venture in the large-model era, aiming not at a single device but at building an operating system for next-generation AI terminals.
Its core product, LingOS, is a portable interaction OS that can be embedded across diverse devices—from wearables to home robots—and continuously evolves through real-world interaction data. Gu emphasizes that hardware is only the interface: the true value lies in a system capable of scaling globally.
