Lu Weibing Unveils Xiaomi 17 Ultra Hands-On: Xiaomi’s Thinnest Ultra Ever, Four Colors Revealed

Xiaomi’s upcoming 17 Ultra debuts as the brand’s thinnest Ultra phone yet, pairing a slimmer 8.29mm body with new colors and the series’ first flat display.
December 22 — Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will officially launch on December 25. Ahead of the announcement, Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group Partner and President, President of the Smartphone Division, and General Manager of the Xiaomi brand, shared the first real-world images of the device.
According to Lu, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the thinnest Ultra model in Xiaomi’s history, measuring just 8.29mm thick—an 11.3% reduction compared with its predecessor.
In addition to classic Black and White, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be available in two new finishes:
- Starry Green, featuring mineral-inspired particle textures
- Cool Smoke Purple, a muted, smoky violet tone
Design-wise, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra introduces a segmented volume key paired with a wraparound middle frame. The rear camera module has been further compacted to improve grip comfort without obstructing the hand. The phone also features a large-radius 2D flat display, marking the first flat-screen design in Xiaomi’s Ultra lineup. A customized Ultra nameplate sits beside the camera module, reinforcing its flagship identity.
