Meituan Dianping to Launch Premium Division for Community Group Buying Services
Chinese food delivery and lifestyle services platform Meituan-Dianping (Meituan) has announced an organizational adjustment to launch a premium business division for community group buying services, the company said Tuesday. Liang Chen, Meituan’s Senior Vice President will be overseeing the new division.
The premium business division or “Meituan Youxuan” of Meituan will serve local communities with grocery group-buying services. In the near future, the company will launch a WeChat mini-app, and users will place orders through this program. “Meituan Youxuan” has already launched its pilot service in the capital city of Shandong Province, Jinan, and is now expanding its local team.

Meituan has also renamed its “Ella Division” which oversees the offline fresh grocery delivery business Ella Supermarket to “Maicai Division”, or Meituan grocery shopping division, according to the company. Launched in May 2018 in Beijing, Ella Supermarket is a one-stop offline + online supermarket selling fresh produce, integrating fresh grocery, dining, and quick delivery to serve customers in fast-paced cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Meituan’s share price soared by 7.89% to HK$199.8 on Wednesday.
