Moonshot AI Secures $300 Million in Latest Funding Round, Boosting Valuation to $3.3 Billion

Since Monday, there have been rumors circulating that Tencent has injected $300 million into Chinese leading AI startup Moonshot AI. This investment has reportedly boosted the company’s valuation to $3.3 billion.

According to the “Sci-Tech Innovation Board Daily” in China, insiders close to the matter confirmed Tencent‘s participation in the funding round. However, when asked about these reports, Moonshot AI chose not to comment.

Earlier this year in February, there were reports that Moonshot AI had successfully raised over $1 billion in a new funding round. The investors were said to include giants like Sequoia China, Xiaohongshu, Meituan, and Alibaba, with existing shareholders also participating. By May, the company’s valuation was reported to have reached $3 billion.

Alibaba‘s financial report, released in May, revealed that the company had invested nearly $800 million in Moonshot AI during the 2024 fiscal year. This investment, which bought Alibaba a 36% stake in the company, was made as a preferred stock purchase.

Presently, Moonshot AI boasts a diverse array of top-tier institutional investors. The list exceeds 20 and includes not only Alibaba, Xiaohongshu, and Meituan, but also Sequoia China, Today Capital, Source Code Capital, and Monolith Management, among others.
