MWC Shanghai to Return in June, A Digital Shanghai Zone to Debut
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is set to take place at the New International Expo Center (SNIEC) in Shanghai, China from June 28-30 this year. As a significant trade show within the Asian mobile ecosystem, MWC Shanghai has already been held for nine sessions.
This year’s MWC Shanghai theme is “Velocity” and focuses on three main directions: “5G Transformation”, “Digital Everything”, and “Reality+”.
MWC, one of the most prestigious international platforms in the mobile communication industry, used to hold three events annually: MWC Barcelona in February, MWC Shanghai in June, and MWC Los Angeles in October. The global launch event held every February in Barcelona is considered a barometer for industry development. As Asia-Pacific has become one of the most dynamic leading markets for mobile technology and digital science, this exhibition returns offline after a two-year hiatus (the last MWC Shanghai was held in February 2021) and is seen as a showcase platform for new generation mobile communication technologies.
The conference features 5 exhibition halls and over 200 exhibitors displaying their latest innovations. Additionally, more than 20 cutting-edge summits will host speakers from around the world who will share industry insights and future development trends. Confirmed exhibitors include major companies such as China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Huawei, ZTE, Qualcomm, Ericsson, Inspur Group, Si-Tech Information, AsiaInfo Tech as well as Lenovo and Sony.
The exhibition’s highlight is the display of 5G technology. This year’s MWC Shanghai will feature a Digital Shanghai zone, which is a new addition compared to previous years. The purpose of this zone is to showcase local innovation and technological achievements from Shanghai on an international stage. By combining MWC Shanghai with the city’s digital ecosystem, the goal is for Shanghai to become an “international digital capital.

The plan also encompasses innovative architecture and key technologies for the upcoming 6G network system, cutting-edge products for satellite internet connectivity, unmanned driving, and smart factories.
