China launches its next-gen open-source AI community AtomGit, integrating models, data, and domestic GPU/NPU power to build an open, full-stack AI ecosystem.
Zhidx News, October 31 — On October 28, the OpenAtom Foundation officially unveiled the next-generation AtomGit platform and a new AI Open-Source Community, marking another major step forward in China's open-source infrastructure.
Jointly developed by the OpenAtom Foundation, Alibaba Cloud, CSDN, the 15th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), and Beihang University, the platform currently serves over 1.6 million developers and hosts more than 9 billion open-source data entries. The upgraded AtomGit platform will officially go live on November 21.
The new AtomGit integrates open-source models, datasets, and heterogeneous computing resources to create a unified "Open Source + AI" infrastructure that is neutral, open, and public-benefit oriented. It will offer full-stack support for domestic GPUs and NPUs, as well as mainstream deep learning frameworks, improving AI engineering efficiency and enabling end-to-end collaboration from model development to computing deployment.
Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said the establishment of the AI Open-Source Community will help strengthen China's original innovation capacity in artificial intelligence, support full-stack solutions, and accelerate industrial implementation. Jiang Tao, Director of the OpenAtom Foundation, noted that AtomGit aims to grow its developer base tenfold and expand its model library fortyfold within three years, building a comprehensive ecosystem that connects developers, models, and computing power.
Leading institutions including Huawei, Baidu, ZTE, MiniMax (Mianbi Intelligence), Ruijin Hospital, and OpenHarmony have announced plans to join the AtomGit community to co-develop China’s open-source AI ecosystem.
Looking ahead, the OpenAtom Foundation plans to further enhance AtomGit's technical capabilities, promote computing resource collaboration, advance talent development, and strengthen international partnerships—supporting the global expansion of China's open-source AI ecosystem.
