New BYD Tang EV Changes Appearance, Driving Range Increased to 700 Km
On Tuesday, some netizens found that BYD’s modified Tang EV model has appeared in the declaration list of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The front face of the new model seems to have been replaced with that of a BYD Han-like design. In particular, the air intake grille of the existing model of Tang EV has been replaced by a more striking chrome frame, and the “Tang” logo has been embedded in it.
The body and rear of this model have remained largely the same as before. The rear side of the vechile adopts closed off rims, with thicker rim styles and a slightly improved body length. The length, width and height of the new Tang EV will be 4900/1950/1725mm respectively, while the wheelbase will stretch 2820mm.
The declaration shows that this model is equipped with a 168kW motor, which is less powerful than the single-motor version of the current Tang EV. It is expected that the dual-motor four-wheel drive version will be launched in the future.
In addition, the energy density of the lithium phosphate blade battery of this model has been increased from the existing 140Wh/kg to 150Wh/kg, which is a considerable upgrade. For this reason, according to the previous new energy promotion information, the driving range of BYD’s new Tang EV two-wheel drive version will reach over 700 kilometers, while the four-wheel drive version will be able to reach 615 kilometers.
