New Oriental Education Subsidiary Opens Online Chinese Classes in the United States
According to a person familiar with the matter, New Oriental Education’s subsidiary BlingABC began to offer online Chinese courses in the United States, Sina Tech reported on Thursday.
Blingo, a product owned by BlingABC, was launched in August this year and provides Chinese and Chinese culture courses for overseas children to improve their Chinese language skills.
Blingo’s courses comply with the standard Chinese textbook and international Chinese proficiency standard for Chinese education issued in March 2021. For children with different language learning levels, Blingo offers two kinds of learning models. Children with a literacy of about 200 can start learning from the K1-K3 level to lay a solid foundation for their Chinese language.
According to enterprise information inquiry platform Qichacha App, BlingABC, which is wholly-owned by New Oriental Education, was established in 2017 with a registered capital of 80 million yuan ($12.52 million). Its legal representative is Qiao Lei.
Yu Minhong, founder of New Oriental Education, serves as a director of the company. In October this year, BlingABC added liquor and health food to its business scope. Affected by the Double Reduction policy, New Oriental Education itself is also seeking transformation of the services it offers.
