Nine Geely 01 Low-Orbit Satellites Successfully Launched
At 12:00 on June 2, China successfully launched the Geely-01 satellites through a Long March 2-C carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China’s Sichuan Province. The nine satellites have now successfully entered their scheduled orbit.
The satellites are mainly to be used for the research and verification of related technologies such as intelligent networked car travel service, car and smartphones satellite interaction, and more, as well as for supporting marine environment protection public welfare campaigns.
Sending nine satellites into low earth orbit marks the commencement of the construction of the world’s first space segment named “Space & Earth Integrated High Precision Space & Time Information System” built by Geely. It also indicates the opening of a large-scale commercial application, which will comprehensively enhance the intelligent travel experience of Geely’s brands such as Zeekr, Lynk&Co and Farizon Auto new energy commercial vehicles. Finally, it will also deeply empower low-altitude travel scenarios such as drones and flying cars.
The nine satellites launched this time were independently developed by GeeSpace under Geely Technology Group, with a design lifespan of five years. The overall deployment is scheduled to finish in 2025, and it plans to provide satellite data application services for the whole world in 2026.
Geely already has 3 million connected vehicles and 12 billion kilometers of vehicle driving data. Based on the data accumulation, GeeSpace could optimize remote sensing AI services, high-precision positioning and space-based remote sensing communication services.
