NIO ET7 Wins Golden Steering Wheel Award in Germany
NIO’s ET7 electric vehicle model was granted this year’s Golden Steering Wheel award in the “Medium and Upper Class” category by German magazine Auto Bild on November 9, becoming the first car from a Chinese firm to win the award.
The Golden Steering Wheel, or Das Goldene Lenkrad in German, is one of the most prestigious annual automotive awards in Europe, founded by Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag in 1976. The organizers select winners by calling on readers to vote on more than 60 models in eight categories. According to the results, several models from each of the eight categories enter a final round in which an independent jury of industry experts select the winners.
Car models participating in the Golden Steering Wheel award must have entered the German market in the year of selection to qualify. There are five models in the Middle and Upper Class, namely the Mercedes-Benz EQE, Citroën C5 X, Genesis Motor’s G80, Kia’s EV6 GT and NIO ET7.
The jury, which included senior editors from Auto Bild, professional drivers and experts in the automotive industry, agreed that the champion – the NIO ET7 – has an advanced interior design and achieves an innovative, interactive driving experience. Whether driving intensely or cruising comfortably, various modes make the overall experience exceed expectations.
The length, width and height of NIO‘s ET7 are 5,101mm, 1,987mm and 1,509mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3,060mm. The maximum cruising range is over 1,000 km based on the 150kWh solid-state battery. Its wind resistance coefficient is as low as 0.23 Cd, and the acceleration of 0-100 km/h is only 3.9 seconds. In terms of intelligent driving, it’s equipped with automatic driving technology, an “Adam” supercomputer, and 33 high-performance sensing hardware.
