NIO Provides Subsidy of Up to $2824.2 for Delayed Orders

Chinese EV maker NIO said that it will compensate customers who had recently placed orders to a total amount of 18,000 yuan ($2824.20). The company made the offer because of delays in order deliveries caused by its recent production line upgrade and further decline of subsidies in 2022.

According to previous reports, Hefei JAC-NIO Manufacturing Base has been upgrading its operations as of late which has led to a postponement of the delivery plans for vehicle orders. The company said the delay will also affect the delivery schedule of some of its December lockout orders.

In 2022, the fiscal subsidy for new energy vehicles will decline by 30% based on that of 2021. According to national regulations, the subsidy for car purchases will be based on the time when the new car is licensed.

For these two reasons, the company is putting forward a subsidy plan for individuals. Specifically, users who pay a deposit to buy an ES8, ES6 or EC6 before December 31, 2021 and pick up it before March 31, 2022, will enjoy an allowance according to the national subsidy standard in 2021.

Among them, vehicles equipped with standard battery packs (75kWh) can enjoy a subsidy of 16,200 yuan ($2541.78), while vehicles with a longer battery pack life (100kWh) can enjoy a subsidy of 18,000 yuan ($2824.2).

According to the delivery data of the firm for the month of November, the company has delivered 10,878 new cars, up 105.6% year-on-year. The sales volume of two other new companies in this field, Li Auto and Xpeng Motors, reached 13,485 vehicles and 15,613 vehicles, respectively in the same month.
