NIO Releases Preferential Plan for EV Purchases in January

Chinese EV maker NIO recently announced a preferential plan for car purchases in January 2022. Users who purchase a new ES8, ES6 and EC6 before January 31, and choose the BaaS battery rental service, can enjoy the discount of 70,000 yuan ($10,985) for standard battery packs (75kWh) and 128,000 yuan for long battery packs (100kWh).

Subsidies for purchasing EVs in China are to be cut by another 30% in 2022, four Chinese central ministries announced on December 31. The policy document also confirmed 2022 will be the last year of government-paid EV subsidies, which have been in place in China since 2010.

Therefore, at the end of 2021, many consumers chose to book vehicles in advance, thus securing their rights to enjoy subsidies.

In response to the decline in subsidies, NIO said that for users who paid a deposit to buy an ES8, ES6 and EC6 before December 31, 2021 and can get their cars before March 31, 2022, they can still enjoy subsidies and the price gap will be borne by the EV maker.
