Nokia Shanghai Bell and FAW Group Establish Cooperation to Transform China’s Auto Industry
Nokia Shanghai Bell (NSB) and China’s First Automobile Works (FAW) signed a MoU on strategic cooperation to ink R&D alliance on smart networked vehicles, Industrial Internet o Things (IIoT), intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation.
NSB will establish a 5G testing network for FAW’s manufacturing base in Changchun to support the application development of autonomous driving and networked vehicles. In addition, the two companies will work together to accelerate FAW’s digital transformation by developing solutions on big data, cloud computing and 5G network slicing.

The signing between FAW’s vice president Sun Zhiyang and NSB’s executive vice president Wang Wei was witnessed by government officials from Jilin Province and Changchun City, as well as executives from both companies.
As a joint venture of Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell (ASB) and Nokia’s China business, NSB was established in 2017 and has been Nokia’s exclusive platform in China for the development of new technologies.
FAW, one of China’s “Big Four” automakers, is a state-owned automotive manufacturing company headquartered in Changchun. It’s actively promoting advanced digital technologies such as autonomous driving and carrying out production process innovation such as IoT and intelligent manufacturing.
