In terms of industrial design, the Alpha is crafted from premium materials and is available in black and gold color. Constructed from anodized stainless steel, the gold variant features a band plated in real 18k gold. A unified internal structure means a sturdy, solid feel on the wrist. In regards to durability, the Alpha is water-resistant, and the flexible display is coated in strong, heat-resistant Polyimide.
As for hardware, the phone is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Wear 2100 platform. It boasts 1GB of RAM + 8GB of onboard memory, enough storage to hold over 1,000 songs, 2,000 short videos or 6,000 pictures. And due to a 500mAh battery, a single charge will provide 1-2 days of regular use (or up to a week of standby time).
With Bluetooth, Wifi, and eSIM technologies, the Alpha allows you to send texts, make calls, and access the internet without the need for a separate smartphone device. It is also equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with UI shortcuts. To take a picture simply tap on the screen, and long press to record a video.
Other features include activity tracking, where you can monitor your heart rate, sleep quality, exercise, and more.
The Nubia Alpha will come in two versions; a Bluetooth version worth 449 euros ($510) and an eSim version. The eSim version will come in two colors, the black is priced at 549 euros ($623) whereas the 18K gold plated variant is priced at 649 euros ($737). It will enter the European market in the third quarter and in North America in the fourth quarter of 2019.
