OnePlus 6T Promo Hints at its In-display Fingerprint Sensor
Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, posted a vague message on Weibo about an “early greeting” from a new product, most likely referring to the teaser clip for the new OnePlus 6T that was posted on Twitter on Sept. 28.

The five-second promo does not provide any details regarding the specs of the 6T, but the slogan “Unlock the future” hints at the phone’s unique in-display fingerprint sensor which was previously confirmed. It is the first OnePlus phone that sports this technology and also the first of its kind to be widely available in the U.S. market. The embedded sensors can already be found in OPPO and Vivo phones but OnePlus has the capability to bring the technology to a wider audience thanks to its large international following.

It has also been confirmed that the new OnePlus phone will ditch the headphone jack despite the results of the poll held on OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s Twitter page, where a whopping 88% stated that they wanted to keep it. Rumors indicate that the phone will feature a triple camera setup and a larger battery than its predecessor OnePlus 6. The notch supposedly resembles that of OPPO R17 Pro which is smaller in a water drop shape.
Alongside the promo, OnePlus also announced “The Lab: OnePlus 6T Edition.” where ten lucky fans will be sent a 6T before launch in exchange for an in-depth review of the device. All English speakers, native or non-native, are eligible to apply. The application form can be found on OnePlus’ forum. Entries are open until Oct. 8.
