Today marks the defining moment of OnePlus’ 5G endeavors. The company launched its biggest global launch event to date with three simultaneously events held across London, New York and Bangalore. It unveiled its newest OnePlus 7 series flagships and announced the company’s 5G rollout plan, as well as directions for future growth.
The Shenzhen-based smartphone company has broken its familiar tradition of launching only one device per event this time by unveiling three flagship devices, namely the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro and 7 Pro 5G Edition.
The launch of the OnePlus 7 series flagships comes at a strategic juncture in technological advancements in network connection. To embrace the dawn of 5G, OnePlus has cooperated with the UK’s largest mobile network operator EE to release its first commercialized 5G smartphone in Europe.
This strategic partnership serves as a critical step in the company’s 5G research and development, as well as its expansion to other European countries to accommodate for the general European market. To date, OnePlus has established partnerships with more than 20 retail, e-commerce and operators across Europe.
“Today is a very important day for OnePlus and the smartphone industry. We are ready to no longer just challenge the smartphone industry, but to challenge ourselves to be the best version that we can be,” says Lau. “We want more people to enjoy a quality experience. And for that, I’m thankful for the support from Qualcomm and EE who has helped us many times to achieve this mission.”
OnePlus’ London launch event was also joined by Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer brands, and Cristiano Amon, President of Qualcomm Incorporated. The two expressed profound enthusiasm and excitement with OnePlus CEO Pete Lau regarding the strong partnership established, and the future plans for development and expansion.
Following the partnership established with T-Mobile in the US last year, OnePlus has enjoyed great successes in bringing its products to more people across North America and Europe. Aside from its London headquarters, the company has also set up local offices in Madrid, Milan, Munich, Cophenhagen, Amsterdam, and Paris.
“OnePlus has become one of our most important partners,” says Allera. “We’ve begun an amazing partnership, focused on the best of R&D and innovation to ensure the best possible experience for our customers. And 5G is at the heart of that.”
Over the past 5 years, OnePlus has become a favorite among premium flagship users in the high-end smartphone sector. It was ranked fifth among high-end smartphones across the globe according to a CounterPoint research report, making the company a major challenger to the premium smartphone sector.
