OPPO and Vivo Smartphones to Adopt MediaTek Dimensity and Snapdragon Chips

A prominent tech blogger on Chinese social media platform Weibo revealed on Thursday that the new smartphone models of OPPO and Vivo in mid-end and mid-to-high-end gears will be equipped with Dimensity 8000 series chips with better performance and new Snapdragon 7/8 series chips.

The Dimensity 8000 chip was released on March 1. The device adopts TSMC 5nm manufacturing process, 4x Arm Cortex-A78 up to 2.75GHz, and 4x Arm Cortex-A55 up to 2.0.GHz. The Imagiq 780 ISP can handle 5 gigapixels per second.

At present, brands planning to use Dimensity 8000 series chips include Redmi, Realme, OPPO, OnePlus and others. OPPO announced in early March that its K10 series will be equipped with this processor.

The same Weibo blogger said earlier that the new generation of the Snapdragon 7 series mobile platform adopts a 4nm manufacturing process, Adreno 662 GPU, four Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.36 GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. Domestic manufacturers like OPPO, Vivo, Honor and Xiaomi already booked the middle-level chip for new products.

Qualcomm offers the Snapdragon 778G, 778G Plus and 780G in the mid-range chip market. Previously, the former was used in most mid-range smartphones. The Snapdragon 778G adopted a 6nm manufacturing process, and the overall performance of the Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU was improved by 40%.
