OPPO’s Imaging NPU MariSilicon X to be Integrated into Models of Realme and OnePlus

Last year, OPPO announced its first self-designed cutting-edge imaging NPU – MariSilicon X. According to digital blogger “Digital Chatting Station“, OPPO will apply the NPU on smartphone models of realme and OnePlus later this year.

MariSilicon X’s NPU delivers an incredible 18 trillion operations per second (TOPS), more than enough computing power to support current AI algorithms. With a stunning power efficiency of 11.6 TOPS per watt, the NPU delivers top-level performance without draining the battery. Built on 6nm process technology, the chip has been installed in some flagship mobile phones of OPPO, such as the Find X5.

When running OPPO’s AI Noise Reduction Algorithm, the MariSilicon X can achieve up to 20x faster performance compared with the OPPO Find X3 Pro. Further, the MariSilicon X has dedicated DDR with extra bandwidth of up to 8.5 GB/s which helps the MariSilicon X revolutionize the imaging pipeline to directly perform real-time 4K AI processing and 20bit HDR fusion in the RAW format at the pixel level.

Using the Dual Image Pipeline design and double raw super sampling, the MariSilicon X also unlocks the full potential of OPPO’s RGBW sensor and supports the separation and fusion of RGB and White signals to deliver an 8.6dB improvement in signal-to-noise ratio and a 1.7x improvement in texture quality.

According to a previous tipster, vivo will also apply its V1 imaging chip to its sub-brand iQOO’s 10 series. However, there have been no leaks that indicate Xiaomi‘s Surge C1 chip will be adapted into its Redmi’s sub-brand models.
