Pony.ai and ONTIME Reach Cooperation to Jointly Promote Commercialization of Robotaxis
On November 20, Pony.ai announced a new collaboration agreement with Chinese mobility technology platform ONTIME to jointly accelerate the commercial deployment of autonomous driving technologies on a larger scale in China.
As commercial mass rollout approaches, the two firms will be able to test different forms of collaboration to quickly implement Pony.ai Robotaxi along the ONTIME platform.
Pony.ai was established at the end of 2016. At present, its team includes more than 500 employees. It has set up R&D centers in Silicon Valley, Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai, and has started the operation of Robotaxi locally. On November 19, Pony.ai announced that it has established a new facility in Shenzhen, its fifth R&D site globally. This marks the official commencement of a strategic layout and R&D network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area to promote the large-scale development of autonomous driving.
ONTIME, Chinese ride-hailing services provider backed by GAC Group, offers a wide range of app-based services across core cities in China’s Greater Bay Area, such as Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Dongguan. In April 2019, the company was invested in by Tencent. On November 18, it announced a strategic cooperation with WeRide, another autonomous driving startup in China.

The cooperation between Pony.ai and ONTIME began with the application of autonomous driving technology in the front line of fighting the epidemic. In June, the autonomous driving vehicle jointly built by GAC Group, ONTIME and Pony.ai have undertaken the transportation of foods and grocery to citizens in the isolation area in Guangzhou.
