Qualcomm Partners With Chinese IoV Firm PATEO on Intelligent Cockpits

Qualcomm Technologies announced on Wednesday its cooperation with Chinese internet of vehicles (IoV) enterprise PATEO in the field of intelligent cockpits.

Based on the 4th Generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms, Qualcomm and PATEO will expand their collaboration to develop solutions supporting vehicle intelligence, smart car connectivity, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), intelligent cockpits and multi-domain fusion-based central controllers. The working relationship is aimed toward facilitating the mass production of the next generation of PATEO Qinggan intelligent cockpit platform solutions.

A key component of the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, the Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms are designed to provide automakers and Tier-1 suppliers the capabilities to redefine in-vehicle experiences. The 4th Generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms are designed to support multiple electronic control units (ECUs) and a central processing unit (CPU) with multi-domain capability, providing bottom-layer performance support for the combination of SOA, system-on-chips (SoCs) and display screens, as well as the integration of select informational driver assistance system (ADAS) capabilities and intelligent cockpits.

Founded in 2009, PATEO possesses five core technologies: OS, intelligent voice, hardware, HD maps and cloud platforms. It is mainly engaged in the R&D and manufacturing of intelligent telematics systems and provision of subsequent supporting services, and commits itself to building a cross-platform system that integrates vehicles, the internet and mobile phones, centered on car lifestyle services.

Up to now, PATEO has invested more than 1 billion yuan ($150 million) in R&D, and has continuously invested more than 30% of its annual revenue in research. It has now applied for more than 5,300 intellectual property rights, of which invention patents account for 82%.

Through its collaboration with Qualcomm, PATEO will utilize its innovative capabilities and experiences with the 3rd Generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies to build upon and unlock the performance potential of the 4th Generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms.
