Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus to Be Released May 20
According to a Wednesday post by Chinese blogger “Digital Chat Station,” the new Qualcomm SM8475 chip is continuing the practice of previous years and is to be named the “Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus.” The launch event will be held around May 20, during which time a large number of Android manufacturers will become the first batch to use this product.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus is based on TSMC’s 4nm technology, and adopts a “1+3+4” three-cluster CPU, which consists of super-large core Cortex X2, large core Cortex A710 and small core Cortex A510. The CPU frequency is 2.99 GHz, and the GPU has been slightly upgraded.
A blogger called “Yogesh Brar” also revealed that Qualcomm’s new generation Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus performed well, and that its overall performance will be improved by about 10%. From the point of view of test smartphones, the new platform has good temperature control, stable chip operation and a better battery life than the Snapdragon 8.
According to “Digital Chat Station,” ASUS’s new ROG game smartphone is competing with Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo, for the world debut of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 GEN 1 Plus. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra, meanwhile, is slightly later than these two companies.

The blogger also revealed that the first smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen1 will appear about one week after the release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus. The new generation of Snapdragon 7 platform adopts 4nm technology, including four 2.36 GHz Cortex-A710 cores and four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A510 cores, supplemented by an Adreno 662 GPU.
