Qualcomm’s New Snapdragon 888 Processor to Power the Next Generation of Android Smartphones

Qualcomm presented its brand-new Snapdragon 888 processor at its Snapdragon Tech Summit. The new chipset will power the next generation of android flagship devices.

The Snapdragon 888 features a 3rd generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF System, as well as support for 5G carrier aggregation. Built with 5nm process technology, the Snapdragon 888 showcases great improvements in computational photography. Thanks to the Qualcomm Spectra ISP, users can capture photos and videos at 2.7 gigapixels per second or roughly 120 photos at 12MP resolution – up to 35% faster than the previous generation of processors.

Xiaomi confirmed its Mi 11 series will launch with the 5G platform in the wake of Qualcomm’s announcement. The company’s 11 Pro is rumored to feature a 120Hz QHD+ display, a 50MP main and 12MP telephoto cameras.

During the summit, Oppo also announced plans to launch the next Find X series in the first months of 2021, making it one of the first 5G smartphone series to be powered by the Snapdragon 888.

Realme disclosed that its new flagship phone, codenamed Race, will also be powered by the Snapdragon 888. It is likely to support the OnePlus 9 family that might be released next March.
