Realme to Become First Smartphone Brand to Mass Produce 240W Fast Charging Devices
Chinese smartphone brand realme officially confirmed on January 5 the launch of its GT Neo5 smartphone in mainland China in February. This all-new offering will be capable of 240W fast charging – the fastest speed under the Type-C standard. Furthermore, realme will become the first brand in the smartphone industry to mass produce devices with 240W fast charging technology.
The 240W fast charging will feature a safe, low-voltage charging solution with a super high power conversion efficiency at 98.7%. Customized with four 21AWG wires, realme GT Neo5 comes with a customized 12A charging cable – the highest standard cable in the industry. The phone will also feature a mini-sized dual GaN charging component, which comes at 2.34W/CC power density – the highest in the industry.
Aside from the charging solution mentioned above, realme GT Neo5 also features a PS3-leveled fireproof design and 13 temperature sensors to monitor charging heat in real-time. The phone will feature the industry’s largest graphene heat dissipation system – up to 6580mm2 in total. With all these cutting-edge technologies, the phone has been tested under 85 Celsius conditions and up to 85% high humidity for 21 days of continually charging and using power, and no safety issues were found. The charging technology also offers up to 1600 battery charging cycles – making the realme GT Neo5 the first phone with 200W fast charging and above to offer such long battery health.
Realme has always focused on developing fast-charging technology. In 2020, the firm brought 65W fast charging to its mid-range offerings – the realme Number Series. It is also the first brand in the industry to introduce 150W fast charging in early 2022, with its GT Neo3 model achieving a 15-minute charging time from 0 to 100%.

With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, the new phone uses a 50MP IMX890 main camera and a fingerprint identification scheme under the screen.
