Realme Unveils GT Neo Gaming Phone with Dimensity 1200 Chipset
Chinese smartphone maker Realme on Wednesday launched a new gaming phone – GT Neo, the world’s first Dimensity 1200-powered smartphone.
The presence of MediaTek’s top-tier Dimensity 1200 SoC is the main highlight of this product. The device supports an FHD+ AMOLED screen with an up-to-date refresh rate, Wi-Fi 6 and UFS 3.1 storage. The processor is coupled with three RAM options — 6GB, 8GB and 12GB RAM, as well as two UFS 3.1 flash storage choices — 128GB and 256GB.
The Realme GT Neo aims to enhance users’ mobile gaming experience. It features a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with fHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, 91.7% screen-to-body ratio and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. There is a gaming optimization mode called GT Mode, which can kick-start mobile games in seconds and boost the phone’s visual performance. The device also has a 3D tempered VC liquid cooling system, which can lower the core temperature by up to 15℃.
On the rear, the device comes with a triple-camera setup consisting of a 64MP Sony IMX682 primary shooter, an 8MP sensor with a 119° ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.
The phone runs on Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. It also packs a 4,500mAh battery, although it charges at up to 50W rather than 65W as in its flagship sibling Realme GT 5G that was released earlier last month.

Other features include stereo speakers, Dolby Sound, Hi-Res Audio certification, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. However, the phone lacks a MicroSD card slot.
The Realme GT Neo comes in three different colors: Final Fantasy, Geek Silver and Hacker Black. The phone only weighs 179 grams.
Prices for the Realme GT Neo start at 1,799 yuan ($274) for a base model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, 1,899 yuan ($289) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version and 2,399 yuan ($365) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage top-end option. The first flash sale will start on April 7 on Realme’s website and major e-commerce platforms in China.
Founded in 2018, Realme was reportedly the world’s fastest-growing brand in the third quarter of 2020, recording14.8 million shipments during that period, according to a report by Counterpoint. That meant that Realme became the world’s fastest brand to ship 50 million smartphone units since its inception.
The Shenzhen-based company has also shown international aspirations. It has grown to become one of the top 5 brands in its key markets, including India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries, with its products being sold in 61 countries globally.
Alongside the GT Neo, Realme also released the V13 5G, an affordable smartphone powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. The device features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD punch-hole display, offering an FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, and 600nits brightness.
The Realme V13 5G is priced at 1,599 yuan ($243) for the 128GB option and 1,799 yuan ($274) for the 256GB model.
