Realme’s Global Sales Exceeds 60 Million Units in 2021, GT2 Series Released

On Tuesday, Chinese smartphone brand realme held a press conference to unveil the latest in its GT2 series of smartphones, its new Dragon Ball-customized version of the GT Neo2, and the newest edition of the realme Book.

At the press conference, Li Bingzhong, founder and CEO of realme, said that 2021 saw the global smartphone sales of realme exceed 60 million units. According to data released by realme, the company ranks among the top 5 in 21 markets globally, second in India, first in the Philippines and sixth in the world.

For 2022, the company expects shipment volume to reach 90 million units by focusing on the Chinese market and the European market. In terms of technological innovation, realme said that it would spend 70% of its R&D expenses on high-end technology.

For an industry first, the realme GT2 series uses environmentally friendly bio-based materials. Bio-based materials are often extracted from renewable raw materials, such as pulp, and can reduce carbon emissions by up to 63%. The devices are available in white, green, black or blue.

The realme GT2 is equipped with the Snapdragon 888 chip, a 6.62-inch E4, 120Hz AMOLED screen, a stainless steel vapor cooling system, a 50MP IMX766 primary camera, and a 5000 mAh battery which can be charged to 100% in 33 minutes.

The realme GT2 is priced at 2599 yuan ($408) for the 8 + 128GB version, 2799 yuan for the 8 + 256GB version, and 3099 yuan for the 12 + 256GB version.

The Pro version of the realme GT2 adopts the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 mobile platform, a 6.7-inch 120Hz screen with a 2K resolution, and a stainless steel vapor cooling system which increases by 50% the device’s heat dissipation abilities.

The GT2 Pro weighs only 189 grams and has a thickness of 8.18 mm. It is also equipped with a 5000mAh battery. A new GT Mode 3.0 will bring features like GT mode desktop components to the phone along with AI frame technology 2.0 and lower power consumption.

In terms of camera power, the phone is equipped with a 50MP IMX766 main camera (with optical image stabilization), a 50MP ultrawide camera (Samsung JN1), and a 40X microlens. The 50MP ultrawide shooter features a 150-degree field-of-view that’s significantly wider than other ultrawide cameras on the market. It also packs a fisheye mode so users can shoot action cam-style footage.

The different versions available are priced at  3699 yuan for 8 + 128GB, 3999 yuan for 8 + 256GB, 4299 yuan for 12 + 256GB, and 4799 yuan for 12 + 512GB.

realme GT Neo2 Dragon Ball Edition

As previously announced, realme released a customized version of its GT Neo2 phone featuring Dragon Ball characters. The device not only integrates characters but also skill settings and other classic elements found in the Dragon Ball universe into its design. The price of 12GB + 256GB version is 2999 yuan.

realme Book Enhanced Version

The enhanced version of the realme Book has undergone some upgrades. As thin as 14.9 mm, the model’s CPU has increased by 68% while  heat dissipation has increased by 32.7%. The 16 + 512GB version ispriced starting from 4699 yuan.
