The Xiaomi sub-brand has confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 will be powered by the Snapdragon 665, while the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be among the first devices to be powered by the Helio G90T mobile platform by Mediatek.
Thanks to previous renders and teasers, it is known that the Note 8 series will have a quadruple camera setup on the back, however, with different camera configurations for the primary sensor. While the 64MP camera was advertised for a long time, it was finally revealed that it’ll be featured on the Pro variant, while the regular Redmi Note 8 will have a 48MP shooter.
The camera is expected to feature Samsung’s new ISOCELL GM2 sensor that was introduced alongside the 64 MP GW1 sensor earlier this month.
Redmi also confirmed that the quadruple camera setup is exclusive to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, while the non-Pro variant will feature a triple camera on the rear panel. Following the recent trends with Chinese smartphone makers, just like the Lenovo Z6 Pro, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will feature a 48MP primary sensor, a secondary Super Wide Angle lens, a Depth of Field lens and finally, a Macro lens for blowing up pictures up close without sacrificing image quality.
According to Chinese media, the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro will be released in China to begin with. Launch dates and times for countries outside of China have not been confirmed yet.
