Royole Launched a Foldable Smartphone Starting at $1290— Unfold the Next Decade
A foldable-screen smartphone has been talked about for quite some time now. According to digitaltrends, South Korean manufacturer Samsung has been working on foldable displays for years and Galaxy X has been involved in discussions.
Now Royole Corporation, a Shenzhen-based flexible display manufacturer, gets ahead by launching the first foldable smartphone called FlexPai.

FlexPai has a 7.8-inch high-resolution ultra-thin display, which could afford 20,000 times of folding according to official statement. The phone can be folded from 0 to 180 degrees.
When folded, the operable screen is only 4 inches, and it easily fits into the user’s pocket. It can be extended for scenarios such as watching videos. FlexPai’s edge screen displays notifications for incoming calls, emails, and messages, which achieves work or play without interruption.

In terms of configurations, the phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 8-series processor. The company has not announced its battery capacity, but states that with its own Ro-Charge technology, the phone can be charged from 0 to 80 percent within an hour. The camera setting is 16MP+20MP. With a foldable screen, this same camera is also used for selfie-taking
The phone comes in three configurations – 6GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 8GB+512GB, and the pricings are 8999 yuan ($1295), 9999 yuan ($1439) and 12999 yuan ($1870) respectively. A limited sale will start from Nov.1.
Founded by Stanford engineering graduates in 2012, Royole Corporation is actually one of the earliest teams in the world that specialized in the research and development of color flexible display technology. According to Liu Zihong, CEO of Royole, there were only three people who founded the company in Shenzhen six years ago, without any accumulation of technology and products at that time. At present, Royole Corporation has more than 2,200 employees in more than 20 countries around the world.
