Samsung’s Lee Jae-yong Vsits China After Three Year Absence
On March 27th, in order to attend the 2023 Annual Meeting of the China Development Forum (CDF) held from 25th to 27th of this month, Samsung Electronics President Lee Jae-yong flew to Beijing by chartered plane on the afternoon of 23rd. This is Lee Jae-yong’s second visit to China in nearly three years after inspecting the Samsung Xi’an Semiconductor Factory in May 2020, IThome reported.
Lee Jae-yong inspected Tianjin Samsung Moto on 24th. He and his party visited Tianjin Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC) production line which was put into production in 2021. Samsung Motor Tianjin Factory and Busan Factory are the main production bases for Samsung to provide MLCC products to overseas markets.
Currently, in addition to the MLCC and camera module factories of Samsung Motor, the OLED module factory of Samsung Display for smartphones is also located in Tianjin, and Samsung SDI also has a power battery production line for new energy vehicles in Tianjin.
According to South Korea’s Asia Daily, Lee Jae-yong’s visit to China was extremely low-key. When he arrived at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing to attend the forum, he simply said to the Korean media, who had been on the scene for a long time, “Is the weather in Beijing good?”, and did not answer any questions.
