Sensor Tower: Douyin and TikTok Earned Over $296M in April
Sensor Tower, a mobile application data analysis company, released a report on Tuesday morning claiming that in April 2022, Douyin and its non-Chinese version TikTok earned more than $296 million from the App Store and Google Play – 1.9 times that of last April – remaining the top global non-game mobile app in terms of revenue.
According to the report, about 48.1% of revenue was from China’s Douyin, 19.4% was from TikTok in the second largest U.S. market, while 4.3% was from the third largest Saudi Arabian market.
In addition, YouTube ranked second on the list with revenue of nearly $111 million, an increase of 23% compared with last April. Specifically, 40.8% of revenue came from the U.S. market, and the Japanese market ranked second, accounting for 21.3%. The other three apps in the top five were Google One, Disney+ and Tinder.
Moreover, at the beginning of May, market research organization Insider Intelligence predicted that TikTok’s advertising revenue would triple this year to nearly $12 billion, surpassing the total of Twitter and Snapchat, and that it would overtake YouTube in 2024.
TikTok previously announced the launch of its latest advertisement product, TikTok Pulse, which allows ads to be displayed along with popular recommended content that ranks among the top 4% of all videos on the platform.
