Sony Xperia 5 III Opens for Pre-Sale, Pre-Installed With Meizu’s Flyme App Store
The Sony Xperia 5 III was announced on October 26 for a price of 6,599 yuan ($1,033). It opened for pre-orders on Tuesday and will fully go on sale at 8:00 p.m. on December 1.
In terms of configuration, the Xperia 5 III is equipped with a Qualcomm 888 5G chipset, a built-in 4500 mAh battery, 8GB memory and 256GB storage. In addition, it is pre-installed with the adaptive Flyme app store developed by Chinese smartphone maker Meizu, and provides optional applications such as email, weather and news.
In terms of design, the Xperia 5 III weighs about 168g and is 8.2 mm thick, convenient for users to hold and operate with one hand. The model comes in three color options: black, green and pink.
Sony says that the phone is jointly developed with Alpha 9 series mirrorless camera engineers. The triple-camera system includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 12-megapixel telephoto zoom lens. It has a three-shot four-focal-segment imaging system, covering 16mm, 24mm, 70mm and 105mm professional photography focal segments, and has the auto-focusing and object tracking features of Sony’s mirrorless camera.

In terms of screen configuration, Xperia 5 III features a 6.1-inch full HD+ OLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It also provides a 3.5mm headphone jack, supporting 360 live sound effects, and Hi-Res audio playback.
According to public information, on October 15 of this year, Meizu and Sony Xperia formally reached a strategic cooperation, which will focus on the application adaptation and localization experience improvement of Flyme’s operating system on the Sony Xperia 1 III and subsequent models.
