Sunwoda to Mass Produce Super Fast Charging Batteries within the Year
Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery Co., Ltd (Sunwoda EVB), the core company of Sunwoda’s power battery business, released the super fast charging battery, SFC480, on September 3, and plans to mass produce it by the end of this year.
SFC480 has a maximum charging power of 480 KW and can achieve a range of 700 km on a single charge, or 200 km on a 5-minute charge.
The super fast charger covers different standards, such as 4C and 6C, which refers to the ability to fill to an 80% battery charge within 10 to 15 minutes, 10 minutes being 6C and 15 minutes being 4C. Sunwoda’s super fast charging battery meets the 4C standard.
Zhang Yao, vice president Sunwoda EVB, said at the press conference that the SFC480 super fast rechargeable battery will be mass-produced this year and will be able to withstand 50,000 charging cycles. With innovative technology, the supercharged products released this time will be able to retain more than 85% of energy at temperatures as low as -20 °C. Meanwhile, the volume utilization rate is greater than 72%, with no heat diffusion.
CTP, or module-less power pack, highlights the technology by skipping the module and, instead, integrates the cells directly into a battery pack. CTC batteries, meanwhile, integrate their cells directly into the car chassis, further omitting the battery pack in CTP technology. It is expected that by 2026, the battery structure of SFC480 will evolve from the current CTP to CTC
Zhang said that Sunwoda EVB will develop both an economical product line and a long-range product line. In addition to pure electric technology, the company also has multiple technologies such as unplugged hybrid, plug-in hybrid and extended-range hybrid, and has achieved cooperation with many mainstream car companies in China.
