In episode 34 of TechBuzz China, co-hosts Ying-Ying Lu and Rui Ma talk about the latest version of WeChat, which first came out on iOS the third week of December 2018, and on Android a few days later.
The WeChat team held a public class themed as “to be on the day” in Guangzhou on January 15. Allen Zhang, senior vice president of Tencent group and president of WeChat business group, attended and delivered a speech.
WeChat officially denied rumors that it monitors users’ chat activity or retains chat records on January 2. Chat records are only stored in the user’s mobile phone or computer, the company said. It does not and will not use chats for big data analysis.
When Allen Zhang, father of WeChat, sat down to explain WeChat’s new Mini Programs on December 28, 2016, the question every developer wanted to know was whether Mini Programs could be used to develop games? Zhang’s answer was simple and straightforward: “Not for now.”
