Rumors are circulating that Chinese travel service provider Ctrip is in negotiations to buy China Auto Rental (CAR) to expand its car rental business.

Chinese travel service provider Ctrip announced yesterday that it will be launching an overseas ride-hailing service on its app to help Chinese tourists on their travels outside of China.
This year's overseas monthly active users (MAU) of Ctrip, a Chinese travel-booking company, took up nearly half of its total MAU, Ctrip CEO Sun Jie announced in an open letter on Dec. 28.
Meituan Hotels has overtaken Ctrip to rank first in China on the fronts of order volume and nights booked in Q2 2018, according to a report released on August 30 by Trustdata, a mobile internet data monitoring company.
