The Computing Conference, one of the Alibaba Group’s largest and most renowned events, opened on Sept. 19 in Hangzhou. Executive chairman Jack Ma, as well as his successor, Alibaba’s current CEO Daniel Zhang, both spoke about Alibaba’s future at the main forum on opening day.
Alibaba Group announced the establishment of Luohan Academy, an open research platform with Nobel Laureates and leading social scientists on June 27. The goal of the new academy is to address universal challenges faced by societies arising from the rapid development of digital technologies.
On February 28, Chinese tech giant Alibaba and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) established a joint research institute in Singapore. The institute will focus on AI applications, including health care, smart home and urban transportation.
