Jingzhan Technology, a designer of high-end semiconductor display screen driver chips, has recently received tens of millions of yuan in A-round financing, coming exclusively from Ying Capital.

The funds are mainly to be used for research and development, tapeout and marketing for its high-end distributed TED display driver and China's first notebook timing control chip.

Jingzhan Technology was established in Japan in 2019, and is now headquartered in Beijing, after receiving angel investment. It mainly develops high-end display driver chips. Its core team is made up of dozens of members, with 80% working as research personnel. Its staff work in different places such as Beijing, Suzhou, Zhuhai and Japan. Jingzhan Technology aims to independently design and localize supply chains from end to end in the field of high-end display chips.

Ji Liming, CEO of Jingzhan Technology, said, \"Our research finds that nearly 60% of the screens worldwide are produced in Chinese mainland, but more than 90% of the chips are made in Korea, Japan and Taiwan (China). Chinese companies spend about $6 billion in purchasing displays chips. And less than 10% display driver chips are made in China.\"

In 2020, Jingzhan Technology developed the world's first TED chip that integrates timing control and drive and adopts distributed architecture in the field of laptops and pads. The chip is highly recognized by the first-tier laptop brands and pad manufacturers.

In December 2021, Jingzhan Technology plans to tape out the first laptop timing control chip. This chip is compatible with Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese manufacturers that have realized mass production. It features higher eDP transmission rate, supports 3K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and is competitive for the latest interface protocol, image quality improvement algorithm and power saving technology. This chip might occupy 60% of the laptop timing control chip market.
