China’s Internet giant Baidu, Inc. has joined the Partnership on AI (PAI), a US-led artificial intelligence (AI) ethnic group and become its first Chinese member.
Baidu announced on August 8th that DuerOS, its voice control operating system, has reached the install base of over 100 million, a major breakthrough for Baidu’s conversational AI platform.
Baidu released on August 1 its unaudited financial report for the second quarter of the 2018 fiscal year. Baidu’s total revenue grew 32 percent to reach 26 billion yuan ($60 billion), while its net profit grew 45 percent to reach 6.4 billion yuan.
The second annual Baidu AI Developers Conference, officially known as Baidu Create 2018, opened in Beijing today. Baidu unveiled China’s first cloud-to-edge AI chip, Kunlun, and many other upgraded versions of Baidu’s AI products this morning on the first day of this two-day event.
During CES Asia 2018, Baidu Apollo showcased its progress in self-driving, Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and automobile safety. Baidu’s autonomous driving platform has initiated collaborations with renowned automobile companies such as BMW and Hyundai Motors, and has also formed a partnership with EV startup Byton for DuerOS.
Recently, Baidu formally announced the establishment of Smart Living Group (hereinafter referred to as SLG). SLG is comprised of Baidu Duer Department, Baidu Hardware Eco-Channel Department and Raven Studios.
