A BYD Qin Pro EV caught fire and exploded in the underground garage of No.1 Park in Zhongguancun located in the western part of Beijing on the evening of November 22nd. When the accident occurred, the vehicle was charging with charging piles. BYD responded that the matter is under internal investigation now and they have no further information just yet.

The vehicle was relatively new, having been sold in early 2019. The explosion area at the scene of the accident has been sealed off and the specific cause for the explosion is still unclear.

According to a screenshot of the owner's Moments feed, the owner and their child exited the car after hearing strange sounds. The vehicle exploded soon after, causing no casualties.

This is not the first time that a Qin Pro EV has caught fire. At the end of October 2020, a Qin Pro EV spontaneously ignited after charging at YantaiTedian Charging Station. In May 2020, a Qin Pro EV was charging at Zhilian Charging Station in Hezhou, Shenzhen, and then parked nearby. Two hours later, the vehicle spontaneously combusted.

Instead of a ferrous lithium phosphate blade battery, the battery inside the BYD Qin Pro EV is a \"BYD NCM 622 ternary lithium battery\". According to sales data, the sale of BYD's new energy vehicles has exceeded 80,000 units in October 2021, tripling year-on-year. The sales volume of EV models has exceeded 41,000, and now account for more than half of the company's total sales. Among them, the Qin series models are the most popular models, accounting for more than a quarter of sales.
