WeChat’s latest 7.0.13 update unveiled several much-requested features, such as allowing users to change their WeChat ID once per year and send nudges to other users by tapping a profile icon.

Renaming Yourself

Prior to the update, users were only allowed to change their account ID once during the lifetime of their account. Adults who chose an embarrassing handle during their teenage years had no alternative but to register a new account.

\n\n\n\n

\"Give me a chance to modify my WeChat ID and all my property is yours,” some netizens joked.

\n\n\n\n

But before you celebrate by taking on an edgy moniker, remember that the name change opportunity is limited to once per year.

\n\n\n\n

To change your ID, update your WeChat to the newest version, go to the \"Me\" section of the app, click the top-right drop-down menu, and select WeChat ID, then change WeChat ID.

\n\n\n\n

WeChat IDs must be between six and twenty characters and begin with a letter. Letters, numbers, underscores, and dashes may be used.

Nudging Users

Bored with common greetings that may go unnoticed? WeChat is offering an alternative to saying “Hi.”

\n\n\n\n

In the latest version, users can double-click the any user’s avatar and WeChat will notify the other party you want to talk. Users can also nudge themselves, though this serves no purpose beyond alleviating boredom.

\n\n\n\n

The nudge function also works on group chats, and any nudge to a group will be visible to all members.

\n\n\n\n

That being said, you may want to think twice before you nudge your boss: who knows whether the reply will be a smile or being booted from the group.

China will have as many as 8.2 million graduates this year, according to data from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.\n\nA Spring 2018 China Talent Flow Report by the Zhaopin.com, China's leading recruitment platform, identified four new trends in the flow of talent concerning cities, sectors and occupations:\n\n

Cities: Emerging first-tier cities still draw job-seekers from third-tier cities and below, with 23.4 percent favoring them for jobs. Although first-tier cities still attract talent from neighboring areas, they are becoming a source of talent outflow to other parts of the country.
Industry: Other business sectors are welcoming talent from Internet and e-commerce as the Internet transforms traditional industries.
Occupations: New graduates have more choices than their predecessors. With the advocacy of government policy and personal interest, entrepreneurship is becoming popular.
Salary: Though sliding in terms of importance, salary still tops the list with 73.2 percent considering it an important factor. Other criteria, such as obtaining registered residence, or hukou, in a big city have slipped considerably.

\n\nState media reported the majority of university graduates in China have starting salaries of 4,317 yuan per month (US $674). China ranked 19th in the 2018 Global Innovation Index (GII), rising 24 places in seven years.\n\n[caption id=\"attachment_8699\" align=\"aligncenter\" width=\"720\"] $\"\"$ Tik Tok[/caption]\n\nThe China-US unicorn research report released by Deloitte last year said there were 252 unicorns worldwide. The majority – 81 percent – were in the US and China, which had 106 and 98 unicorns respectively.\n\nWhile most US unicorns operate in the business service sector, China's unicorns dominate the e-commerce, information and logistics industries.\n\nOn June 11, US President Donald Trump implemented a new visa policy aimed at driving a wedge between Chinese STEM graduates and American intellectual property holders. Critics slammed the move unwise, noting that Chinese policy is already aimed at attracting such young and talented graduates back to the nation's emerging high-tech industries.\n\n

\n\nThe China Securities Regulatory Commission said it will prioritize IPOs by unicorns in the emerging industries of biotechnology, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and high-end manufacturing.
