Property rental company Airbnb announced on June 3 that it will facilitate the shift of its housing and host data to several Chinese domestic rental platforms, such as Meituan Travel, Feizhu and Tujia, before it shuts down operations in mainland China from the end of July.

The opening of this channel is due to the important business adjustments announced by Airbnb recently. From July 30, 2022, it will stop its operations in mainland China and take down all mainland Chinese listings - including both homes and experiences.

Apart from continuing to serve tenants, hosts will be able to migrate information about their listings and reviews with one click. Willing Chinese property owners on Airbnb can apply to participate in the data migration plan until July 25, 2022.

In the Chinese market, Airbnb once faced many competitors. By the end of 2021, the number of properties listed on Airbnb in China was only 150,000, while the numbers of houses on Tujia, Meituan Travel, and Feizhu were 2,300,000, 800,000, and over 800,000 respectively.

Airbnb is not considered the best choice for consumers' booking property rentals in China. According to a recommendation list of Chinese homestay booking platforms in 2022 released by Chnbrand, a brand rating authority, Tujia ranks first, Airbnb ranks second, followed by Trip.com and Feizhu.
