Chinese autonomous driving company WeRide offered hundreds of passengers their first-time robotaxi rides through the WeRide Go App and Alibaba’s Amap within the 144-square-kilometer operating area in Huangpu District in Guangzhou during the 8-day national day holiday.

The company saw 17.9 orders per day for each Robotaxi with an average service duration of 22 minutes and an average service mileage of 6.9 kilometers, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday during the “golden week.”

\n\n\n\n

The WeRide Robotaxi operation in Huangpu offered uninterrupted and publicly accessible service with adjusted amount of capacity to local residents who chose to stay and tourists visiting the area in Guangzhou.

As a autonomous driving startup established in 2017, WeRide has seen its average service mileage per order up by a margin of 2 kilometers, rising from 4.9 kilometers in December 2019, its first month of operation, to 6.9 kilometers as of Oct. 9.
